Stripe - Pass Fees to Customer

How to set up your account to pass Stripe payment fees to the customer

As part of how Stripe sets up its charges for its service, it charges an extra amount on top of each charge that uses its platform. For example, it normally may charge 1.7% plus 30 cents on each transaction.

By default, these charges are not added to payments customers make. However, if you want to, its possible to turn on a setting in your Now Book It Admin page to pass these charges on to customers making a payment.

Admin Setup

  1. Go to admin.nowbookit.com and login to your account.
    1. You'll need to either login with an Account Owner or Venue Manager access to make this change in admin.
  2. Click the name of your venue from the list.
  3. Click "Payments" on the left-side menu
  4. Click the "Charge Stripe Fees" box on the page
  5. This will open up a pop-up box that must be accepted in order to enable this feature. Please review the information in the box and click "Confirm" if you agree to the information in the pop-up.
  6. If you click "Confirm," you will see two additional fields appear on the page.
    1. Processing Fee Percentage: this is the exact percentage that Stripe charges you for transactions. Please confirm the percentage with Stripe if you're unsure about the exact amount.
    2. Charge Stripe Flat Fee: this is an option that will pass the 30 cent fee to the customer as well.
    3. You can choose to select both the percentage and flat fee, or only the percentage.
  7. Click "Save" on the bottom of the page to save the changes. Once you apply these changes it will immediately apply to any charges you have set on your account.

Widget Appearance

  1. Once the Stripe Fees have been turned on, they will appear in the widget, as shown below:

Note

  • If you are using Pre-Authorisations on any of your bookings on your account and if you have set up a custom HTML email for Pre-Authorisation emails, you'll need to go to that specific email and click the "Save as a New Version" in the upper right.
