Walk-Ins created by the POS During Events – Requirements & Duration Behaviour
If you are running an Event in Now Book It on a day you are normally closed, walk-ins created via POS may fail. This is expected behaviour based on how services and schedules operate.
Why Walk-Ins Fail During Events
Events do not automatically create an open service schedule.
For walk-ins to work:
-
A service must be active
-
The service must be scheduled/open for that day, but turn off online bookings
-
The service must not be set to closed or unused
If a venue:
-
Is normally closed on Saturdays
-
Creates an Event on a Saturday
-
Does not have an active/open service scheduled for that day
→ Walk-ins via POS will return a Create Walk-In error
Key Rule
An Event alone does not override a closed schedule.
If the service is not open, walk-ins cannot be created — even if an event exists.
How to Allow Walk-Ins During an Event
To enable walk-ins on a day the venue is usually closed:
-
Ensure the relevant service is active
-
Add an open schedule for that day, and turn off online bookings
-
Confirm the service is not marked as closed or unused
Once the service is open, walk-ins via POS will function as expected.
Walk-In Duration Defaults to 2 Hours
When a walk-in is created via POS:
-
If the POS sends a duration → NBI uses that duration
-
If the POS does not send a duration → NBI defaults to 120 minutes (2 hours)
Can this be changed?
-
The 120-minute default cannot be adjusted within NBI
-
The duration is controlled by the POS
-
If needed, the end time/duration must be manually edited in the diary after creation
